Free Monkey Sanctuary​

​Thirteen years ago, Richard and I saw a monkey who was kept in a small parrot cage at a farm workers village. The monkey was in extremely poor shape and needed urgent medical attention. The owner wanted to sell the monkey to us and we refused to pay him, and we called the local police instead. They confiscated the monkey, and we offered to take the monkey to the vet and pay the bill, they handed her over in our care.​​

After a few days, she was running around here on the farm and clearly enjoy the space and freedom.......a extremely happy monkey. We decided to investigate other villages in the area and found more abused and in some cases badly injured monkeys in small cages and chained to poles. That was the beginning of the sanctuary, and we have saved many monkeys from a life in captivity and abuse.​​

We do not keep the monkeys in cages they are free to do things that monkeys normally do, playing and enjoy the company of other monkeys. It is so rewarding to see the life back in their eyes and how they enjoy playing in the trees. ​​

Up to now, we funded the sanctuary with our own money that we earn from selling Richard's paintings and steel and wood articles that we make. But a few months ago, our work shop burned down and we were out of a steady income to care for the monkeys. Richard is now in the US and working on a farm there so we can have money to care for our monkeys and to rebuild the work shop and buy power tools that was lost in the fire.​​

Thing are difficult at the moment, and the enormous increase in the fuel price, electricity and ever increasing price of food are not helping us. But we must stay positive and carry on with the work we are doing and be the voice of the animals that cannot speak for themselves. They need us, and the other animal loving people to save them from cages and the pet trade.............wish people will realize that wild animals is not pets, they belong in the wild and free. ​​

Your help will be tremendously appreciated, and 100% of all donations we receive is spend to care for the monkeys. We do this for the love of animals and do not take admin fees or salaries. Please help us to buy food for the monkeys and to rebuild the work shop so we can work to cover the costs of the sanctuary.​​
